Italian opera chief, RIP

The death has been announced of Luciano Alberti, former artistic director of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and of the Teatro Comunale in Florence. He was 94.

He was also Professor of History of Music at the University of Siena and head of the Puccini Festival at Torre del Lago.
