Italy is shuttling opera chiefs

We hear that the Teatro Sancarlo in Naples, which evicted the Frenchman Stéphane Lissner on government orders, is about to instal Fulvio Macciardi of Bologna as his successor as sovrintendente.

Macciardi hired Oksana Lyniv in Bologna as Italy’s first woman chief conductor but things have apparently not gone well and he is ready for a change of scene.

Florence, meanwhile, is about to announce a new chief conductor.
