Jonas Kaufmann: I have no plans to sing baritone

Jonas Kaufmann: I have no plans to sing baritone

The German tenor has issued a short video in the wake of press reports that he was following Placido Domingo into the darker depths. The reports were triggered by his Vienna appearance in I Pagliacci, where he sang the prelude as well as the role of Canio.

Kaufmann, 55, clarified that prelude has only one note in the baritone range and he has no intention to explore the range any further. He added: ‘for now’.
