The next sovrintendente of opera in Venice will be the conductor and composer Nicola Colabianchi, presently director in Cagliari.

Colabianchi, 67, is favoured by the political right.

He succeeds Fortunato Ortombina, who has gone to La Scala. In Cagliari, he was investigated by the prosecutor’s office for absenteeism.
