Maestro mourns his wife, Mary

Maestro mourns his wife, Mary

David Zinman, former music director of the Baltimore Symphony and Tonhalle Zurich, has lost his beloved wife.

He writes:
It is with great sorrow that we mourn the passing of dear Mary She was a truly remarkable woman, whose heart was wide open to everyone she met. No one was spared from Mary’s loving arms. We are devastated at losing a true angel in all our lives.
Mary was born in Auburn, NSW, near Sydney, and lived a rich and full life until her peaceful passing in North Salem, NY, at the age of 86.
A talented violist, a healing ZB therapist and teacher, and a whimsical artist, poet, and writer, Mary’s creativity and generosity touched everyone she encountered. She even took up tango in her late 70s—dancing with grace and focus.
She devoted her life to supporting my career in every possible way. But more than all that, she was my life partner, my best friend, and my confidant.
We are planning a memorial service at our home on May 18. If you’d like to attend or receive more information, please contact info@rachelzinmanyoga.com.
