Matthias Goerne makes his debut as opera director

The German baritone (pictured) will direct Salome next season in Toulouse, with Michael Fabiano and Adriana Gonzalez in the leading roles. Goerne is one of the most thoughtful artists on the present-day recital circuit.

Also in the Opéra National Capitole de Toulouse’s new season, announced yesterday, is thr French premiere of Mieczyslaw Weinberg’s The Passenger and three French delicacies – Gluck’s Armide, Rameau’s Les Boréades and Massenet’s Thais.
