Neeme Järvi takes a fall

Neeme Järvi takes a fall

The veteran Estonian conductor, 88, suffered a fall in the podium while conducting at the national song festival yesterday.

He told local media from his hospital bed today that he’s feeling fine but ‘will need to remain under the care of doctors for some time’.

He added: ‘Don’t worry at all, I’m a big optimist. We still need to live for a while for Estonia. To do culture and art and music and hold song festivals. This [song festival] is a phenomenal art that is only done in Estonia.’

We wish Neeme a swift recovery.
