No classical resignations at Kennedy Center. Why?

No classical resignations at Kennedy Center. Why?

A reader points out:

The quiet resignation of Kennedy Center Artistic Director for Jazz, Jason Moran, leaves only classical artists on the Center’s artistic payroll: Gianandrea Noseda, Steven Reineke, Carlos Simon, Jennifer Koh, Francesca Zambello (pic) and Robert Spano.

What does it say that the classical season remains fully intact, while artists with public stature, integrity, and independent drawing power have stepped away—or been pushed out? The implication is damning: that classical musicians appear willing to remain complicit in a system increasingly shaped by propaganda, while those with reputations beyond the institution have refused to play along.

It evokes uncomfortable parallels—such as high profile conductors who stayed in Germany during WW2. The regime changes, and some adapt. But history remembers who stayed silent—and who walked away.

So – why not?
