Normandy laments creative leader, 63

The last director of the Orchestre régional de Normandie, Pierre-François Roussillon, has died a few months after his orchestra was defunded.

Son of a famous actor at the Comédie Française, Pierre-Francois was a solo clarinetist before devoting himself to managing theatres and ensembles across his native region. He had just relaunched his solo career when illness struck. The regional newspaper said: ‘From Cherbourg (Manche) to Mondeville (Calvados), Normandy has just lost one of the artistic figures of the last quarter of a century.’
