Ohio pianist is killed on the road

Caroline Oltmanns writes:
It is with great sadness that we have to say our final goodbye to Sean Ryan Baran who was tragically killed in a pedestrian accident yesterday near his home.
Sean was one of my students, and as it happens he became a good friend. Sean’s creative style of teaching, of seeing the very unique potential in a student, his talent in choosing just the right repertoire and in creating the perfect opportunities to perform it made him in my eyes one of the best teachers I have known and had the pleasure to work alongside.
Many phone conversations became about playing piano, and concerts, and his contributions especially to the region and beyond as pianist, organist and teacher were unmeasurable.

From Sean’s CV:

Sean Baran is a pianist and organist based in Youngstown, Ohio. He graduated summa cum laude from Youngstown State University’s Dana School of Music with a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in music performance. In addition to his endeavors as the organist at Boardman United Methodist Church, Sean is a passionate piano pedagogue. He is currently a resident artist at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center in Midland, PA where he runs the piano program for the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School. Sean currently serves as the Secretary of Youngstown Music Teachers’ Association, Vice President of Student Activities of Ohio Music Teachers Association Middle East District, and District 1 Junior Counselor for the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs. Sean is also a member of the American Guild of Organists and has served on the executive committee of the Youngstown Chapter.
