Oistrakh partner dies, 96

The Russian violinist Rosa Fain, a pupil and later stage partner of David Oistrakh, has died in Dusseldorf, where she was Professor at the School of Music for many years.

Like her teacher, she was born in Odessa. She won the third Wieniawsky Violin Competition in Poland in 1957, embarking on a solo career with international orchestras. She moved to Germany in 1979.
