Rotterdam Phil remembers Mary O’Reilly

Rotterdam Phil remembers Mary O’Reilly

Message received:

On January 17, Mary O’Reilly, who was the first violinist in our orchestra from 1988 to 2003, died.
Mary O’Reilly was born in Irvington, New Jersey, and her musical journey took her to Rotterdam via Boston and Mexico City. In 1988 she joined our orchestra, where she played as the first violinist for almost fifteen years. Her craftsmanship and dedication made her a valued member of our orchestra, and she was instrumental in the artistic development of the group.
After leaving the stage, Mary remained closely connected with our orchestra, among other things through the Association of Friends of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. Her love for music and her involvement with young violinists through the Hellendaal Violin Institute demonstrated her lasting passion for the craft.
Mary has turned 71 years old. We remember her with gratitude and love and wish her family and friends strength during this loss.
