Rotterdam takes new concertmaster from the Concertgebouw

Rotterdam takes new concertmaster from the Concertgebouw

The new concertmaster of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra as of this week is Tjeerd Top, assistant principal violinist of the Royal Concertgebouworkest.

He says: ‘After twenty years with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (KCO), I started this month with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. I auditioned for first concertmaster in September, and last week was my first official week in the Doelen. In consultation with both orchestras, I was able to get a sabbatical from the KCO at short notice, and with that I have the honor of being a member of the two best orchestras in the country for a while.’
