Saint Anton Bruckner, if you please

Saint Anton Bruckner, if you please

A Slippedisc subscriber has written to Pope Leo, proposing the beatification of the Austrian composer.

Why not? Bruckner was Catholic, lived a blameless life and wrote screeds of sonorous solemnities for the mother Church.

Drop a line to Pope Leo, if you feel the same way.

Up here, in Schloss Slippedisc, we feel a bit differently.

If any composer ought to be beatified it is the wonderful Papa Haydn. Next in line, Giuseppe Verdi. Then Karl Amadeus Hartmann, the Bavarian anti-Nazi who saved many fugitive lives during the Hitler years.
