Second Simon is signed by Oslo

Second Simon is signed by Oslo

The widely respected choral director Simon Halsey has joined the Oslo Philharmonic as Choral Director and Artistic Advisor for the next five years.

Halsey, whose career tracked Simon Rattle’s from Birmingham to Berlin to London, was roughly treated by the LSO, which declined to renew his contract as chorus director. He starts in Oslo in September.

Chief Conductor Klaus Mäkelä said, ‘I feel personally honored and grateful that Simon Halsey has accepted our invitation to be Choral Director and Artistic Advisor to the Oslo Philharmonic. He is an incredibly inspiring musician who has raised choral singing to a whole new level.’
