Turin finally fills the slot

Six and a half years after the tumultuous departure of Gianandrea Noseda, the Teatro Regio in Turin has finally appointed another music director.

He is Andrea Battistoni, 37, a versatile musician from Verona. He is a published composer who has been principal condcutor of the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa and of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra.

He has also worked intemittently with rock and pop musicians.
