US harp legend, 90

The death has been made known of Susann McDonald, co-founder and artistic director of the World Harp Congress. Susann was three days past her 90th birthday.

A student of Lily Laskine in Paris, she followed a solo career with teachign positions at the universities of Arizona and Southern California. From 1975 to 1985, she headed the harp department at the Juilliard. In 1981, she became chair of the harp at the Jacobs School of Music in Indiana.

In October 2002, he lost many of her possessions in a fire at the home in Bloomington that she shared with organist Diane Bish.
