What a young conductor has to do

What a young conductor has to do

Last year in Salonika, the 16th International Dimitris Mitropoulos Competition, the jury withheld first prize.

Second went to a Russian, Sergey Akimov.

This should have been the start of an international career but Akimov is Russian and things are tough.

The best it gets is movie concerts, starting with Godzilla Eats Las Vegas.

He manages to work in a chunk of Tchaikovsky, a feelgood bonus.

But he has to wear an Elvis suit halfway through.
