New York flutist, 52

Christopher McIntire has posted:

Valérie Andrée Tessa Chermiset (1973 – 2025)
This is the most difficult announcement that I have ever had to compose and one for a completely devastating and unexpected loss. Valérie, Tessa as those closest know her, passed away July 4th in her New York apartment.
I have tried many times to write this and feel that I have failed each and every time and way to properly express our monumental loss. Words are incapable of describing what she meant to me, our children, family, and many friends… this is so much, much more. So I will keep it simple.
Tessa was a beautiful, brilliant soul with the capacity to let loose and silliness reign with a laughter that was so contagious. She was a free spirit, adventurous, resourceful, proudly Belgian, and steadfastly independent. The flute was an integral part of her soul and for those lucky enough to have known her as a professional musician, her performances were transcendent – she was truly phenomenal. Tessa and I never once stopped caring for one another. We stood firmly together to raise and nurture our beautiful children, Finnegan Lief and Juliette Zélie, whom she loved so very much.
I and we all loved Tessa dearly.
