New Zealand mourns concertmaster

New Zealand mourns concertmaster

Message from the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra:

It was our great honour to dedicate Saturday’s Lamb & Vale Jan.

Appointed as Christchurch Symphony Orchestra’s first professional concertmaster in 1992, Jan van den Berg made an indelible mark on the development of our orchestra and the musical history of Ōtautahi. Jan’s commitment to CSO over almost 20 years as Concertmaster was nothing short of incredible.

Originally in the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Jan was concertmaster at Cape Town opera and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra before settling in Christchurch, NZ.
