German tenor is killed in a road accident, aged 52

The well-known singer and voice professor Dominik Wortig died yesterday after a traffic accident. His death was made known today by his husband, the tenor Boris Leisenheimer.

A soloist at Theater Hagen, Wortig performed also at the Semperoper in Dresden and La Scala, Milan. He was professor of singing at the University of Augsburg and director for the past two years of its Leopold Mozart Centre.
