New conductor on the Cape

The Dutchman Arjan Tien has been named Principal  Conductor of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, starting next year.

He has also been appointed Associate Professor of music at the Stellenbosch University.

Tien, 57, is presently chief conductor and artistic director of the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy.
