Breaking: Roger Wright joins Rothschild

The former head of BBC Radio and and BrittenPears Arts has been headhunted to be chief executive of the Rothschild Foundation, distributing patronage to the arts.

Sir Roger, 68, will take up residence at the Waddesdon Estate from the end of this month.

The Rothschild Foundation is delighted to announce the appointment of Sir Roger Wright CBE as Chief
Executive. His appointment, which follows an extensive, international search, will take effect on 28 October 2024.

Sir Roger will work closely with the Chair of the Foundation, Dame Hannah Rothschild, and will reside at
the Waddesdon Estate. Sir Roger was previously Chief Executive of Britten Pears Arts, a music, visual arts and heritage charity based in Suffolk, from 2014 until he stepped down in July 2024. During his ten years at BPA Sir Roger oversaw significant transformation of the organisation w ith the acquisition of the Snape Maltings site and the development of its creative campus, and the merging with Britten Pears Foundation to create Britten Pears.
