We Are! In support of Ukraine

We Are! In support of Ukraine

Violinist Roman Mints is the artistic director of WE ARE! Concert in Support of Ukraine, a night of music and solidarity to support Ukraine on Sunday 26 January 2025 at St John’s Church, Waterloo. The event will feature oboist Nicholas Daniel OBE, violinist Dmytro Udovychenko, conductor Natalia Ponomarchuk, pianist Sasha Grynyuk, flautist Karen Wong, and Roman Mints along with Another Chamber Orchestra.

The programme features Malcom Arnold’s Variations on a Ukrainian Theme and his Concerto for two violins and string orchestra, alongside music by Ukrainian composers including Yevhen Stankovych, Valentin Silvestrov, Victoria Poleva, Myroslav Skoryk (1938-2020), Vitaliy Hubarenko (1934-2000) and Yuri Shevchenko who died of pneumonia a month after Russia launched the invasion; he was trapped in a cellar in Kiev.

Moscow-born Roman Mints is a violin professor at both Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Following the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he has been involved in several fundraising campaigns to raise money for charities helping Ukraine. He has founded Another Music Festival Ltd to promote these and other concerts, to bring together young and experienced musicians, and to create musical programmes with unexpected twists.

Ticket proceeds will go towards supporting Medical Life Line Ukraine which buys ambulances and power generators.
