Spain grants Daniel Barenboim its second highest honour

The conductor and pianist Daniel Barenboim has been awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Civil Merit, according to the Royal Decree published yesterday, January 15, in the Official State Gazette. This recognition, proposed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ratified by the Council of Ministers, represents the second highest rank of the Order of Civil Merit.
