Just in: Israel Phil renews Lahav to 2032

The Israel Philharmonic this morning signed Lahav Shani for a second five-year term as music director, taking him to the 2031-2032 season. Shani, 36, lives in Berlin, close to his mentor Daniel Barenboim.

He is concluding a stint this season as music director at the Rotterdam Philharminic and will start with the Munich Philharmonic next year.

He said today: ‘I am happy and proud to continue my musical journey with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. From my very fiirst day, it has been an honour to work beside outstanding musicians with such deep desire for artistic excellence.’
