Bernstein award to Japanese Youtuber

Bernstein award to Japanese Youtuber

The Leonard Bernstein Award of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival has fallen this year to Hayato Sumino.

The Japanese pianist, known as ‘Cateen’, has a million Youtube subscribers.

He is 29 and moves, the citation says, ‘between classical, jazz and pop, between social media and the concert stage, between playfulness and seriousness’.

He wins 10,000 Euros, courtesy of a German bank.
