The Berlin University of the Arts has made known the death of its former cello professor Markus Nyikos, who died last month at the age of 76.
Principal cellist of Festival Strings Lucerne and a member of the 12 cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic, Markus was a professor in Berlin for 35 years, from 1979 to 2014.
He was a Swiss citizen, born in Basel.
