Just in: Oxford loses orchestra

The City of Oxford Orchestra has given its final concert, after 60 years.

The programme was Glinka overture, Rach 2, Tchaik 5.

Before the concert, the orchestra’s director Lindsay Sandison explained why it would be their last.

She said: “We had a very, very small audience at the last concert.

“There’s nothing more depressing for the orchestra to have a smaller audience than the orchestra. A lot of the music in Oxford is free.
