Three women chiefs call it quits

Three women chiefs call it quits

Lena-Catharina Schneider (pic) is stepping aside as artistic director of the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, ‘at her own request’.

She plans to choose ‘a new career path’ that will achieve a better balance between family life and work. ‘We are very reluctant to let Lena go, but we understand and respect her motives,” said orchestra president Kathrin Martelli.

Merle Fahrholz has also resigned as artistic director of the Essen Aalto Music Theater and the Essen Philharmonic ‘at her own request.’

At Münster Theater, on the other hand, intendant Katharina Kost-Tolmein, has voiced great regret at the non-renewal of her contract. She said the town of Münster was interrupting the process of artistic reorientation that she had instigated.

So it goes.
