Sheku to be resident at NY Phil

Sheku to be resident at NY Phil

Among Gustavo Dudamel’s plans for his first season at the New York Philharmonic, announced yesterday, is the appointment of the British cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason as artist in residence.

Also eye-catching is a new orchestral version, conducted by Dudamel, of Frederic Rzewski’s Marxist hymn, ‘The People United Will Never Be Defeated’. That should go down well at Trump Towers.

Joshua Bell and Dalia Stasevska are planning an all-Ukrainian night in November (for whatever is left of Ukraine).

And Yuja Wang will play the first piano concerto by Einojuhani Rautavaara, the Finnish envorinmentalist.

Get in there.
