Veteran US music school chief steps down

The Frost School of Music at the University of Miami has let is be known that Dean Shelly Berg will depart a year from now. Berg who turns 70 in August, is a classical and jazz pinaist with a substantial discography. He became Dean in Miami in 2007, according to his Wikipedia entry.

Here’s the School’s statement:
After 46 years (sic) of redefining music education and inspiring generations, Dean Shelly Berg will step down from his position at the Frost School of Music in the spring of 2026. The announcement marks the end of an era in which Berg helped shape the Frost School into one of the top music schools in the country and stand out as a global model for 21st-century music education.
A six-time Grammy nominee, acclaimed pianist, composer, and bandleader, Berg now looks ahead to devoting more time to his art.
