Pat Kop dumps Oz

The Swiss-Moldovan violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja has pulled out of an Australian Chamber Orchestra tour, citing injury.

ACO’s director Richard Tognetti writes: ‘I am saddened to announce that director, violinist and composer Patricia Kopatchinskaja has withdrawn from this tour due to an injury. I am incredibly dismayed and disappointed that you won’t get to experience quirky Kopatchinskaja and her interpretation of Schubert’s chamber masterpiece. I understand that you will share this disappointment so please accept our sincerest apologies as we wish her well in her recovery.’

The temperamental artist had previously warned an Australian interviewer: ‘Everything that I plan goes wrong’.

The ACO says its Australia tour will go ahead with principal violin Satu Vänskä in the soloist role.
