He gave £110 million to British arts

The death has been made known of Alan Grieve, CBE, founder of the Jerwood Foundation which in 34 years gave away an eight-figure sum to visual and performing arts in the UK.

He never bothered to ask for a knighthood.

Grieve, who was 97, gave liberally to unemployed artists during the Covid era. He ealso endowed at hall at LSO St Luke’s.
