Just in: Salonen quits Tanglewood

Just in: Salonen quits Tanglewood

This notice went out last night to ticket-holders:
Guest conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen regrettably has withdrawn from his three scheduled appearances at Tanglewood this month for personal reasons. We are grateful that our longtime artistic partner Thomas Adèshas agreed to conduct the Open Rehearsal and BSO program with soloist Pekka Kuusisto on July 12 and 13, and the TMCO program on July 14.

The repertoire for the programs will remain unchanged. In a statement, Salonen said: “I am deeply sorry not to be able to join you at Tanglewood, and I look forward to seeing everyone at Symphony Hall in February.”

Salonen is presently in South Korea with the New York Philharmonic.
