We have been apprised of the passing of the Belgian pianist Frans Brouw, longest living prize-winner of the Queen Elisabeth Competition.

In 1952, Frans came fourth.

The winner was Leon Fleisher.

Frans migrated to Canada in 1964.

He died on July 8 at the age of 96.
