Arts Council England: We’re still failing

Arts Council England: We’re still failing

Ten days ago, we reported that the grants-giving portal at ACE had shut down and no-one was getting any money.

Today, we’ve seen a message (below) saying it is still not repaired.

The ACE has one job: to fund the arts. It is not doing that. Those responsible are never held to account.

The ACE needs to be shut down permanently.

Here’s the latest excuse:

We know how essential our funding is to the sector, and we understand the impact technological issues with our system have had on both individuals and organisations. We are sorry for the disruption this has caused.

We continue to make progress on ensuring our services can continue with minimum disruption to people, and we thank all our users and applicants for their patience and understanding while we do this. We will carry on keeping you informed of new developments with regular updates.

We were able to get the majority of our processes up and running within a week. Today, we have further updates on the programmes that have been impacted.

Today, we are announcing that our Supporting Grassroots Music programme will now open on Thursday 28 August, and our Incentivising Touring Repayable Grants programme will open on Monday 1 September. We have developed new application processes for both of these funds. The content of the application form, the spreadsheet, and the questions for Incentivising Touring will remain the same as listed in the guidance. The guidance and application form for Supporting Grassroots Music will be similar in content to what was previously published. The new versions will be available on 28 August.
