Berlin Philharmonic’s next recruit is from Peru

Berlin Philharmonic’s next recruit is from Peru

We reported yesterday that the Spanish violinist Raquel Areal Martinez had been admitted to the Berlin Philharmonic Orchsetra.

Also passing the audition was Eduardo Rios Silva, a violinist from Lima who is presently first assistant concertmaster of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra.

He is, we are reliably informed, the first Peruvian ever to take a seat in the Berlin Phil.

Both musicians will need to pass a year’s probation before being granted full membership.
