German opera director, 90

The death is recorded of the veteran German opera director Hans-Peter Lehmann, at 90 years old.

Originally from Kassel, he assisted Wieland and Wolfgang Wagner at Bayreuth from 1960 and 1973. He opened his account as a director with Tannhäuser in Munich, followed by Zimmermann’s Die Soldaten in Nuremberg, before settling as a formative intendant at Hannover State Opera, where he served for 21 years.
