Big break for Natalya as Covent Garden reshuffles Ring

Big break for Natalya as Covent Garden reshuffles Ring

The Royal Opera has moved swiftly to replace Lise Davidsen, who’s having twins, with a home-grown soprano of great potential.

The role of Sieglinde in Die Walküre in May will be performed by Natalya Romaniw, making her role debut.

Natalya, who is Welsh-Ukrainian, sang a terrific Tosca at Covent Garden in December and is presently in the house preparing for the new Mark Anthony Turnage opera, Festen.

She recently changed agents, giving her career a different energy source.
