Canadian orchestra goes Canada first

Another Canadian orchestra has plumped for a Canadian conductor.

Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra has installed Simon Rivard, starting this month.

Rivard, 35, is from Montreal and he’s also MD of Edmonton Opera and the  Orchestre de la Francophonie.

He spends his summers coaching at Verbier.
