Dreary Van Cliburn ends in Sham win

The 17th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in Fort Worth ended during the night with a victory for Aristo Sham from Hong Kong, which is part of China. He now lives in Sweden.

Sham, 29, leaves with $100,000 and the audience award, worth $2,500.

Second was the Russian-Israeli Vitaly Starikov, 30. Third place went to Evren Ozel, 26, of the US.

The competition failed at any point to catch fire, or to capture global media attention.
