The family of Jan Kaczmarek have announced his death in Krakow, aged 71, of the neurodegenerative condition Multiple system atrophy.
Kaczmarek won an Oscar in 2005 for his score for the Miramax film Finding Neverland.
He also composed symphonic works for national occasion.
