Glenn Gould prize goes to … Elton John

Glenn Gould prize goes to … Elton John

The award, made in London today, is intended for a living artist whose ‘unique lifetime achievement contribution has enriched the human condition.’

Elton Johnm said: ‘After spending decades admiring the virtuosity of Glenn Gould’s work, I am awestruck and honoured to receive this award.’

The jury was chaired by a former Canadian prime minister.

Remind me: when was the last time a classical artist received an award named for a rock star?
