Italian opera chief takes Russian citizenship

Vladimir Putin has issued a decree granting Russian citizenship to the veteran Italian stage director Giancarlo del Monaco.

Son of the famed tenor Mario del Monaco. Giancarlo directed Rigoletto at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow last month.

Giancarlo del Monaco, 81 this week, has been General Director of Opéra de Nice and Artistic Director of the Tenerife Opera Festival. he has directed more than 100 operas in many leading houses.

He is now a willing accessory to Putin’s war crimes.
