Mirga makes Leipzig debut

The former Birmingham music director Mirga Gražinte-Tyla made an acclaimed debut with the Gewandhaus on Friday night, conducting works by Silvestrov, Kissine, Debussy and Ravel.

The event had a sentimental dimension. Mirga spent her early student years at the Leipzig conservatoire.
