Mourning for NY record producer, 63

Mourning for NY record producer, 63

Composer Michael Shapiro has sent us this obituary for Adam Abeshouse, whose funeral takes place today, hours before Yom Kippur:

Exemplary recording producer, engineer, and classical violinist Adam Abeshouse, 63, passed away from pancreatic cancer on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at home surrounded by his adored and cherished wife Maria and daughters.

Trained at the Manhattan School of Music, winner of three Grammy awards, nominated in 2024 again for Producer of the Year, Abeshouse was that rare recording producer and engineer whose ear and taste displayed a perfection unique in the industry.

The finest composers and performers of today (including Joshua Bell, Steven Isserlis, Jeremy Denk, Garrick Ohlsson, Michael Shapiro, Lara Downes, Robert Paterson, Steven Beck, Tim Fain, Kevin Puts, Time for Three, and so many others) raved about his ability to elicit the best performances from his clients who returned countless times to record their most recent work. They would have no other producer/engineer. No one met Adam Abeshouse’s standards, abundant care, and loving attention or did it all with such joy.

Whether it was at his new studio in northern Westchester or on the site of concerts, Abeshouse delivered each and every time mastered products that surpassed even the best in his field. An Abeshouse recording was produced by a master musician whose ability to hear and replicate was unequaled and cherished by all of his clientele.

Adam’s joy of creation and deeply Jewish ethos represented for everyone what music fundamentally should mean – bringing beauty to the world through the best recorded sound. His friends and colleagues are in deep mourning.
