Paris ensemble gets German boss

Paris ensemble gets German boss

The Ensemble Intercontemporain is to be run by a German broadcasting executive called Patrick Hahn (not to be confused with the young Austrian conductor of the same name).

Hahn has programmed a “Musik der Zeit” concert series on WDR since October 2022. Before that he worked hand in fglove with Francois-Xavier Roth at the Gürzenich Orchestra in Cologne.

He succeeds Olivier Leymarie, who has become number two at the Aix-en-Provence festival.

The EI, under music director Pierre Bleuse and still missing Pierre Boulez, desperately needs reconfiguration.
