Paris music centre dumps its one-term chief

It appears that Jean-Philippe Thiellay, former Deputy Director General of the Paris Opéra, is leaving the Centre National de la Musique next week.

Thiellay, its foundign director has been informed that ‘The President of the Republic and the Minister of Culture have decided to give, soon, a new impetus and therefore a new presidency to the Centre national de la musique .’

Sounds like one of those new-fangled executive orders.

The Centre, opened in 2020, ‘is an organization designed to accompany and support the various stakeholders in the music sector, from artists and songwriters to labels, music publishers, concert promoters, venues, managers, sound engineers and retailers.’

It is fully funded by the state.
