Valley Gergiev demands new concert hall and theatre

Valley Gergiev demands new concert hall and theatre

The all-controlling head of the Mariinsky and Bolshoi theatres has complained that facilities in Moscow are inadequate for his company.

He told a press conference: ‘The Bolshoi Theatre teams, in my view, (…) need new opportunities, even new performance venues: both a concert hall and a new theatre stage. Most likely, this will be a combined project, where both the concert hall and theatre performances will take place within the same walls.’

He had conveyed the need, he said, to President Putin.

Stand by for scaffolding.
